- Thurs July 27: Island Science Lecture Series: Manta Pacific, 5-7pm at Hawaiʻi Keiki Museum in Kailua-Kona. Learn about local marine life and deepen your understanding of manta rays!
- Fri July 28: Hilo Dajingu Bon Dance, 6-10pm at Hilo Dajingu. Music performances from 6-7 and dancing from 7-10pm.
- Fri July 28: Intro to Bonsai, 10-12pm at Higashihara Park. Learn from a bonsai expert about the basics and philosophy of the art. Take home and care for your very own bonsai! Limited spots! Call (617) 543-8065 to reserve a spot.
- Fri July 28: Kainaliu Block Party, 4-7:30pm at Kainaliu Town in Kona. Delicious food, live music, and community. Bring your own chair!
- Sat July 29: Hilo Taishoji Bon Dance, 7-10pm at Hilo Taishoji. Chili rice, andagi, shave ice, and entertainment by Taishoji Taiko.
- Sat & Sun July 29-30: 4th Annual Experience Volcano Festival, 10am in Volcano. From Akatsuka Orchid Gardens to the Volcano Winery, experience art, nature, food, music, and more in the heart of Volcano!
- Sat July 29: 9th Annual Eat the Street Hilo, 8-2pm at Civic Auditorium. A drug free, alcohol free, and nicotine free event. Free keiki activities, health far, concert, food trucks, and giveaways.
- Sat July 29: Drag Queen Storytime, 2-3pm at Change Center Hawaii in Hilo (above the booch bar).
- Sat July 29: Mac Fest 2023, 12-5pm at Mac Nut Factory in Honokaʻa. Kick off mac nut harvest season at Hawai’i’s oldest mac nut factory. Celebrate with food, live music, games, face painting, and mac nut factory tours.
- Sat July 29: Hawaiʻi Acrofest Dance Party, 5-10pm at Kalani Retreat Center in Pāhoa. Kamaʻaina tix are $10 online or $35 at the door.
Comedy + Entertainment
- Sat July 29: South Kona Standup Comedy, 6-9pm at the HI Dive Bar in Kealakekua. Featuring Justine Smith, Yasir Bey, AJ Higlesias, and Kevin Hobbs.
- Sat & Sun July 29-30: Asteroid City (2023), 7pm at Palace Theater in Hilo. This comedy/drama returns for another weekend at Palace Theater! Follow a writer on his world famous fictional play about a grieving father who travels with his tech-obsessed family to small rural Asteroid City to compete in a junior stargazing event, only to have his world view disrupted forever. Tix are $10 general or $9 for seniors, students & military.
- Mon July 31: Open Mic, 7:30pm at Hilo Town Tavern.
- Tues Aug 1: Tuesday Taco Comedy, 6:30-8:30pm at Kona Elk’s Lodge. 2 tacos are $8. Comedy from 7-8:30pm followed by an open mic.
- Tues Aug 1: Pineapples Comedy Open Mic, 9pm at My Bar in Kailua-Kona. 5 minute time slots for your music, comedy, and poetry!
